Eglu Survives Hurricane
We know the Eglu Go is fox-proof, but we've just discovered it's hurricane-proof too! Jane Wilkinson and her hens were prepared for the worst when they heard that Hurricane Irene was heading towards them in Boston, but it turned out they didn't need to worry at all. The Eglu Go was not fixed to the ground, nor weighed down, but it didn't move an inch during the tropical storm.There was no damage to the Eglu, not even a scratch, and it remained completely dry inside.
Although the Eglu Go is a fantastic product, we must admit that we are surprised to hear that it wasn't in the slightest bit affected by a tropical storm. So now we want to know what other weather conditions our Eglus have survived... Let us know by sending an email to stephanie@omlet.co.uk
Hens are the Perfect Family Pet!
Nowadays, we rarely read an article on keeping chickens that doesn't mention the Eglu at least once. It is fast becoming an icon of the good life and 21st century living. Our latest feature has been in the Telegraph, in an article about why chickens make great family pets. The author, Francine Raymond, is a real eggspert when it comes to poultry and she has written numerous books about keeping chickens. They're so good we even sell two of them on our website!
In the article, Francine explains that hens are more interesting than regular pets, giving 'an abundance of learning opportunities and hours of amusement'. Keeping chickens helps to teach kids where their food comes from and will make them more aware of animal welfare too. It is that time of year again, when the children go back to school and you have to get back into the routine of making packed lunches every morning. It is always difficult coming up with lunch box ideas, but here's something that kids will love.
Egg Wraps
Wraps are ideal for packed lunches and if you can hold of the wholemeal ones, the children barely notice that they have added goodness!
2 Hard boiled eggs
A large spoonful of mayonnaise
Sprinkle of mild curry powder
A few chopped chives
Salt and pepper to taste
Wholemeal wraps
1. Mash the eggs with a fork and add the mayonnaise
2. Sprinkle in some curry powder (cayenne pepper if you like it spicy)
3. Add the chopped chives.
4. Place into the wrap and roll up!
And that's a wrap!
September's Eglu Owner of the Month is very special, because not only is she our first ever Guinea Pig owner to be featured, but it was her birthday yesterday. So, three cheers for Florence, “hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray”!

About your Guinea Pigs
* I have had my guinea pigs for around 18 months.
* They are called Bubble and Squeak.
* Their favourite food has to be cucumber and grass!
* One of the best thing about keeping guinea pigs is that they are so affectionate and they squeak when they hear you to make you chat to them.. They also enjoy a pampering bath!
* My favourite thing about the Eglu apart from its vibrant colour is it is so easy for me to clean.
