Pixiebob

Geschichte
The history of the Pixiebob begins in the foothills of the Cascade mountain range in Washington USA. A woman called Carol Brewer bought a polydactyl (extra toes) spotted male kitten from a couple in the area in 1985.
In 1986 Carol rescued a classic tabby male with a short tail and large size who she named Keba. Keba mated with neighbours domestic cat called Maggie and a litter was born in April 1986. A female kitten with a reddish coat and wild, spotted look took Carols fancy and she named her Pixie.
In 1987 Carol began looking for more of these distinctive bobtailed cats with the aim of breeding from Pixie. Carol wrote up a standard that she wanted to aim for in the breed and settled on the name Pixiebob. In 1993 Carol applied to TICA for her breed to gain recognition and TICA accepted the Pixiebob for Exhibition status in 1995. Eventually the Pixiebob gained championship status in 1997 and a Pixiebob called Silversprings Zeus won a first international award for the breed in 1998.
Verhalten
Pixiebobs are active, loyal and tough cats. They enjoy exploring their surroundings and meeting all types of other pets and new people. They have been called dog like because they seem devoted to their owners and love to be kept company.
Varietäten
Pixiebobs always come in a tabby pattern but can be long or short haired.
